Lawrence Earns Career-Best Runner-Up Result in ASCS Gulf South Championship Standings

Inside Line Promotions – LILLIAN, Texas (Aug. 31, 2017) – Zane Lawrence was officially declared the runner up in the ASCS Gulf South Region championship standings after this weekend’s season finale was cancelled because of the destruction from Hurricane Harvey.
The 2017 season marked Lawrence’s second year of points chasing with the ASCS Gulf South Region and showed a vast improvement as he scored seven top fives and 11 top 10s – both ranked second best in the region. He placed sixth in the championship standings in 2016 with one top five and six top 10s.
“It was another good year for us,” he said. “We started off the season pretty good and kept the points deficit within reach throughout the first part of the year. About midway through the season we could see the points lead that (Ray Allen) Kulhanek had continue to grow a little bit more each race. Not that we were running bad, he just hit a winning streak, which definitely made that harder to catch up to him.”
Not only was Lawrence in contention for a championship with the ASCS Gulf South Region, he is pulling double duty in contending for a title with the NCRA Sprint Bandits Series.
“We’ve still got a couple races with the Sprint Bandits so we’re going to see what we can do there and finish the season strong,” he said.
Lawrence is tentatively scheduled to race a 305ci sprint car this Sunday at RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas.
“Overall, I think we’ve had a really good season,” he said. “We’ve been fast and competitive in both series and I think that’s a huge momentum booster looking into the 2018 season. We’re looking forward to it and ready to go for some big wins.”
