Pittman Fights for Big Sky Brawl in Billings Victory During World of Outlaws Much-Anticipated Return to BMP Speedway; Dimond Wins IMCA Mod Feature

Inside Line Promotions – BILLINGS, Mont. (Aug. 26, 2017) – Daryn Pittman returned to Victory Lane on Saturday during the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series first event at BMP Speedway since 2008.

Pittman was also victorious at the 3/8-mile oval during a World of Outlaws race in 2005, making him the first driver to officially win multiple World of Outlaws shows at the track (Steve Kinser won the inaugural event finale as well as two preliminary nights, but preliminary races aren’t counted in the World of Outlaws records).

Pittman, who scored his first World of Outlaws triumph of this season on Aug. 4, started Saturday’s Big Sky Brawl at Billings on the outside of the second row. He quickly advanced to third place before passing Donny Schatz for the runner-up position only a handful of laps into the race. Pittman was able to drive by polesitter Shane Stewart for the lead just before a caution on Lap 9 gave him a clear track.

Pittman maintained the top spot and held off Stewart during a couple of late-race restarts en route to the triumph in front of the packed grandstands.

Stewart outlasted Schatz for the runner-up position. Brad Sweet placed fourth and Jason Johnson rounded out the top five.

Johnson opened the night by setting quick time during qualifying before he, Stewart and Pittman claimed heat race wins. Stewart was the dash winner.

Jake Dimond captured his first IMCA modifieds feature victory of the season at BMP Speedway. Kory Wermling advanced from fifth to second place with Jeremy Meirhofer placing third, Ty Clemens fourth and Zach Olson fifth.

Meirhofer and Clemens each won a heat race.

BMP Speedway will return to action next Saturday for Track Championships Night featuring WISSOTA late models, WISSOTA street stocks, WISSOTA super stocks and WISSOTA midwest modifieds.
