... Getting up to speed with the Ward Race Team...
Kicked off the year with a new look! The car was stripped down and the chassis was powder coated a bright yellow @ LPC Powder Coating in Hanover. The body was disassembled and body work was done before it got sent to be painted by Shaun Miller! Wow, no more Harry Gant green, we now have a midnight black. Kevin Nouse owner of Nouse Signs & Graphics was then given the body to do his handy work putting graphics on the car. We couldn't have been any more excited for a fresh new look!!! We got the car back and man does it look awesome!!!! Team 33 is ready to go! The season started off a little slow with some races being cancelled but our team kicked it off at Lincoln Speedway. We had a slow start, as was expected, since the car did have a complete tear down with lots of parts replaced and we had to get it broke in. Susquehanna Speedway on April 4th our team started on the pole in the feature! How did that happen?? Our Crew Chief Matt must have picked the pill that day. HaHa!! Anyway luck was not on our side as the car caught fire coming down the front stretch and the driver had to pull it off! While investigating the damage realized we had a broken camshaft! As the saying goes...when it rains it pours! Well thanks to Mike & Lucas Montgomery, having an extra motor they were willing to sell, the race team was back in business. We had to work hard to put it all together again, but at least we had the motor!! Setup,setup,setup! Thanks to all who helped in any way to get it back to race ready! May came in with a bang and landed the team a 15th place finish at Lincoln! Grandview Speedway got us a 12th place finish! June gave us Trail-way Speedway with a 19th place finish! It may not seem like much but the team is extremely proud of the driver, crew chief and owners for being able to accomplish these finishes so far and we are looking forward to the rest of the season!
