Mike Marlar advances to fourth in MLRA Spring Nationals finale at Wheatland
With the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sitting idle over the weekend, Mike Marlar joined the Lucas Oil LateModel Racing Association (MLRA) on Friday at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) for the annual Spring Nationals.
Drawing 44 Late Models for the tour’s opener, Marlar squeezed into the A-Main with an eighth-to-fourth run in his heat race. With a $7,000 prize up for grabs, Mike passed eight cars in the 40-lapper, reeling in a seventh-place finish.
After another disappointing qualifying effort on Saturday, Mike followed up a 10th-place heat finish with an 11th-to-3rd showing in his B-Main. Starting the $20,000-to-win MLRA Spring Nationals finale in 21st, Marlar marched through the field 17 spots to claim a fourth-place finish and the Swift Springs Move of the Race. He trailed Jonathan Davenport, Ricky Thornton Jr., and Garrett Alberson in the final rundown with Mason Zeigler coming in fifth.
