SCDRA $18,000 Winner Adkins Heads to Boyd's Speedway for Shamrock 100

Woodruff, South Carolina (March 13, 2022) - Fresh off his $18,000 triumph at Screven Motor Speedway in February, Cumming, Georgia racer Josh Adkins will be looking for his third SCDRA victory in a row dating back to November 2021. Adkins, who also frequently wheels an asphalt late model, heads to Boyd's Speedway for the $5,000 to win Shamrock 100 with a possible advantage over many of his fellow SCDRA competitors. Adkins and his brother Roger have both previously competed at Boyd's and are somewhat ahead of the learning curve coming into the weekend.

But Adkins still has a mountain to climb to find Victory Lane with such a strong contingent of drivers coming to the Ringgold, Georgia facility. In addition to his brother and many others that are expected, Adkins will face stiff competition from 2021 SCDRA Champion John Windham of Lake City, Florida. Windham is the winningest driver of 2021 with 3 total victories in sanctioned events. Brandon Gibson, Jr of Dry Ridge, Kentucky also has his sights set on winning at Boyd's. Gibson picked up two victories in 2021 on arguably two of the biggest stages in Eldora Speedway and Windham also had preliminary wins at the Bristol Nationals in 2021.

Many other SCDRA regulars are expected to be looking for their first victories of 2022 including Florida drivers Walker Windham, Payne Pickles and Wayne Risner; South Carolinians Newman Presnell and Bruce Denman, Eddie McGrew, Chris Vannausdle, Cale Deese and John Whisnant; North Carolina drivers Shannon Barnhill, Kyle Jenks and Casey Spears; Alabama drivers Issac Gipson and Gary Watson; Ohio racers Dennis Adkins and Kevin McKenzie. Another Georgia driver who expects to be competing at Boyd's is 2-time SCDRA Champion and all-time wins leader Andrew Smith of Pooler. Smith has career SCDRA winnings of over $150,000.

On Friday night, March 18th Boyd's will host open practice and at the end of the night the SCDRA drivers will have their first round of time trials. On Saturday March 19th SCDRA drivers will take to the track for round 2 of time trials, followed by last chance races and the 50-lap/$5,000 to win feature event. The SCDRA will co-headline the Shamrock 100 with Ultimate Super Late Model Series who will also be racing for $5,000 to win.
