I-44 Speedway to Introduce a New Division of Late Model Racing
Lebanon I-44 Speedway is introducing a new class to the line-up this season. The Big 10 Late Model class is designed to allow racers to compete at the top level of the sport while keeping the costs at a minimum. We believe this division will be a great fit for our program here at I-44 Speedway, not only for the drivers, but for the fans who are looking for an exciting show.
The Big 10 Late Model class is designed to allow any straight rail, perimeter, stock stub, or fabricated stock stub Late Model chassis to run with a cost-effective engine package. The price cap for these race cars is $10,000 which will be enforced by a claim rule. Racers will have the option to claim a complete race car from another competitor, including the engine, but not including the seat, seat belts and fire extinguisher system. To review the complete rules and claim rule for this class please take a look at our website, i44speedway.net.
A few of our veteran drivers here at I-44 Speedway are planning on fielding a car in this division in 2018. Drivers like Kenny Dickinson, from Camdenton Missouri, and Brian Brown, from Strafford Missouri, hope to find success in these cars this season. Brian intends on piloting a car in the Pro Late Model division and the Big 10 Late Model division this season. “Technology has advanced so far in the late model class and I feel like this class will level out the field and bring asphalt racing back to the way it was in the past,” stated last year’s Late Model runner-up, Brian Brown. Brian also believes that this class will create something for the drivers looking to move up a division. “The Big 10 class could be a bit of an avenue for a guy to move up a class, but not spend 25,000 to 30,000 dollars,” declared Brown. As you can see, Brown is excited to get back to hard, clean, and fun racing again this summer and is ready to put on a show for the fans!
All of us here at Lebanon I-44 Speedway are eager to get the Big 10 Late Models on track and see just how entertaining this division will be. “I think this class will provide great racing for the fans and be the most fun car to drive in the area,” added Brennon Willard. The Big 10 Late Model division will be in action Saturday, May 5th with $500 going to the winner and $100 to start the feature, we hope to see you there!
