Ashland, WI, April 22 — The start of the 2018 stock car racing season is coming up soon, and what better way to kick off the season than with the ABC Raceway’s annual car show at FastLane Motorsports & Custom Powdercoating on Saturday, April 28.

The public is welcome to attend and will get a sneak-peak at several of the stock cars, as well as a chance to visit with some of the drivers that will be competing at the award-winning three-eighths-mile red-clay oval this coming summer. In addition, the Raceway and FastLane staffs invite area motoring enthusiasts to bring their street rods, muscle cars, custom bikes, and collector cars and trucks to display along with the race cars in the north parking area in front of FastLane’s office.

The ABC Raceway will operate under the direction of the all-volunteer Ashland-Bayfield County Racing Association for the 54th consecutive season. Members of the Raceway staff will be on hand to talk about the upcoming season’s schedule, which is jam-packed with both special programs and long-standing popular events. Included on this year’s slate are visits by the Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series’ “traditional” non-winged sprints, the WISSOTA Wollak Construction Late Model Challenge Series, the Advantage RV Modified Tour, the FastLane Motorsports Northland Super Stock Series, and Hornet racers from area tracks.

The Raceway’s regular-season schedule is slated to start on May 12 and conclude on August 25, with racing programs set for every Saturday night except June 30, as the Raceway will host the Late Model Challenge Series on Friday, June 29. To finish up the season, the 43rd annual Red Clay Classic in late September is again expected to be the Northland’s biggest stock car racing event and will host over 200 drivers competing for one of the biggest purses in all of the Midwest.

During the show, drivers that will be competing at the ABC Raceway in 2018 are encouraged to stop by and take care of registrations, pit-spot reservations, licenses, and other administrative matters.

Chris Bretting and his FastLane staff will also be available to answer questions regarding the many services that their business offers, such as fabricating, sandblasting and applying protective powdercoating materials for residential, industrial and commercial uses.

The car show will be held from 10 am until 2 pm on Saturday. Tammy Hollister from Heartland Communications Group will be on hand for live radio remote broadcasts from FastLane’s shop from 10 am until noon on WJJH, 96.7 FM, with driver and track personnel interviews and prize giveaways.

FastLane Motorsports & Custom Powdercoating is located in Ashland’s East End, on the corner of US Highway 2 and Industrial Park Road. The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For more information, visit the track’s website, www.abcraceway.com.
