Inside Line Promotions – CALISTOGA, Calif. (Sept. 18, 2017) – Jason Sides is currently cruising across the freeway during the toughest travel week of the season.

Sides will drive more than 2,500 miles from last weekend’s Wine Country Outlaw Showdown at Calistoga Speedway to the next World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event – this Friday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio.

“I’m going to make a detour to stop at home real quick,” the Bartlett, Tenn., resident said. “This is always a long week.”

Sides opened last weekend’s doubleheader at Calistoga Speedway by qualifying sixth quickest on Friday. He then won a heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. That locked him into the third starting position in the dash.

“We got a good start and were challenging Rico (Abreu) for second, but then all of a sudden it got really loose,” he said. “I moved around trying to find where I should be running on the track. When I came in the left rear tire shrunk two inches.”

Sides finished sixth in the dash before he ended 14th in the main event after his race car lost several inches of stagger.

“I’m not sure why we’re having this problem,” he said. “They tires shrunk together, but then the frame rail starts dragging and it really messes with your car.”

Sides returned to the half-mile oval on Saturday. He timed in 10th quickest before advancing from fourth to third place in a heat race to start the main event seventh.

“They reworked the track, which was good,” he said. “The bottom stayed pretty good for a little bit. It seemed like the bottom was there for six or eight laps and then it went gut slick so everybody moved to the top. On the restarts is when I’d lose spots when people would do a super slider. We ran eighth for the longest time. The last couple of laps I went through the middle to protect and lost momentum. Shane (Stewart) got by, (Jamie) Veal got by and then Greg Wilson went by on the bottom so I lost three positions trying to protect.”

Sides capped the night with an 11th-place result.

This weekend’s schedule includes Friday’s BeFour the Crowns Showdown at Eldora Speedway and a Saturday race at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., for the Commonwealth Clash with the World of Outlaws.
