Inside Line Promotions – CALISTOGA, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2019) – Sides Motorsports highlighted its final week of the season on the West Coast with a top-five finish last Wednesday during the 49er Gold Rush Classic presented by Riebes NAPA Auto Parts.

Tim Kaeding piloted a team car to the quickest time in qualifying before he won a heat race. Unfortunately, he pulled the highest number – six – during the dash redraw and he finished in that position. Kaeding made up ground in the A Main, battling for a spot on the podium before ending fourth.

It marked the team’s seventh top five of the season and it was the best result of the three-race week with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series for the two-car team.

Kaeding placed 16th on Friday at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., during the NOS Energy Drink Showdown at Stockton and he ended 13th on Saturday at Calistoga Speedway during the Wine Country Outlaw Showdown. Those were his final two scheduled starts of the year with the team.

“I think it worked out great this year,” team owner Jason Sides said. “He had some really good runs. We’ve got good equipment and the motors run really good. I feel like if he was here longer we’d wrack up some wins.”

Sides improved his feature finish during all three nights, placing 23rd at Placerville Speedway, 21st at Stockton Dirt Track and 17th at Calistoga Speedway. While Calistoga Speedway featured the best result, Sides had his top night going on Friday at Stockton Dirt Track.

He qualified sixth quickest before winning a heat race. A fifth-place finish in the dash lined him up on the inside of the third row for the A Main. Unfortunately, Sides got the front end knocked out of his race car early in the feature and the time expired in the work area before he could return to the track.

“On one of the restarts I was on the outside,” he said. “I tried running the top and it didn’t work for me. I got to bouncing real bad and then got ran over. It took the front end out and jabbed it in the mud. It took longer to get the mud out than change the front end so we didn’t get to restart. Tim had a similar problem as a rut threw him off the track. I felt like both cars were going to be in the top five and it got shot to hell.”

Next up is a trip to Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kan., for the Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown this Friday and Saturday. Sides won World of Outlaws races at the track in 2011 and 2015.

“It’s a beautiful facility with a great promoter,” he said. “I love the race track. It’s a fun track and the whole facility is nice. It’s always great to go there.”
