Tyler Leary Takes May 12th Season Opener Checkers

Hudson, NH – After Mother Nature was victorious on May 4th, the fans and teams were treated with a beautiful spring day for racing. Before we get into the racing action we would like to take a minute and wish all mom’s a Happy Mother’s Day! With 5 of the weekly divisions and the Evolve Pro Truck Challenge on hand the fans saw some great racing action. Tyler Leary, Justin Beecher, Brian Caswell, Erin Aiken, and Carlos Grenier found their way to victory lane in the weekly divisions and Duane Noll took the Evolve Pro Truck win. For full details on the Evolve Pro Truck Challenge please visit them on Facebook at ProTruck Challenge or on their website at evolveprotruckchallenge.com.

MLM Diagnostic Pure Stocks were first on track for feature action with Carlos Grenier (1NH) and Chris Quin (78) leading the field to the green after winning their respective heat races. Grenier would jump take control of the top spot on lap 1 and would survive various restarts to capture the win. The real battle would be for the 2nd spot as the fans were treated to a great battle for numerous laps between the 08 of Jojo Roberts and the 17 of Bobby Payne. After a multiple lap battle it would be Payne that would take control of the 2nd spot on lap 15 and he would not look back as he tried to reel in Grenier but would have to settle for runners up spot. On lap 19 Roberts would get passed by Quin for the 3rd spot. Quin would hold on to 3rd forcing Roberts to settle for 4th. Evan Jacobsen (80) would run a quiet race sneaking his way into the 5th spot. In post-race inspection the 76 of Chris Quin was found to have adjustable rear control arms and was disqualified.

Granite State Indoor Gun Range Six Shooters took to the track for 25 action packed laps. Tystin Bodwell (17x) looking to end her spell of bad luck would start on the pole after taking the heat race win. She would be joined on the front row by the Steve Miller Sr. in the 68. Bodwell jumped out to the early lead with the 33 of Erin Aiken in tow. Aiken riding a hot streak after 3 wins in the previous two days including picking up the Six Shooter win on Friday evening at Claremont Motorsports Park. It would take 18 circuits for Aiken to find a way around Bodwell for the top spot. Aiken would take her 4th victory of the weekend and start the season at Hudson Speedway off on the right step! Bodwell held on to 2nd but was followed close across the line by 3rd place finisher Steve Miller Jr (79). Miller Sr. finished 4th and Michael Yeaton (25nh) rounded out the top 5.

The Ridge Runners rolled onto the track to do battle with the 47 of Brian Caswell and 37 of Peter Fraser on the front row. The race would run green to checkered with Caswell leading the way the whole race. Fraser tried early on to get around Caswell, but he just wouldn’t have enough. Richard Marrocco in the 7 crossed the line in 4th and Callie Osborne in the 59 finished 5th.

The finish of the day of racing the MacMulkin Chevrolet Sportsman Modifieds roared onto the track defending track champion Tyler Leary (11x) wasted no time to show that he is going to be a contender for the championship again in 2024. Leary ran away with the win but Jesse Jakubajtys in the 44 closed the gap towards the end of the 30 lap feature to finish 2nd. The battle for third was hotly contested throughout the event as Todd Warren (62) held the spot for the first 20 laps but Mike Marshall in the 29 was all over his rear bumper with newcomers to the high banks of Hudson speedway in the forms of Herve Thibodeau (2) and JT Cloutier (13) all under a blanket looking to pounce at any mistake. Marshall took the 3rd spot on lap 20 and held on to collect the podium finish. Warren held off Cloutier for the 4th place with Cloutier settling for 5th.
