Inside Line Promotions – TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (Oct. 15, 2018) – Mason Daniel continued to further his sprint car education last Saturday when he made his first-ever 410ci start with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Terre Haute Action Track.

“It was an eye-opener for sure,” Daniel said of his first start in the more powerful machine. “I now know that I have a lot to learn to be competitive at that Outlaw level. I’m excited to get better at it and keep improving and just get more laps in it.”

The event also marked Daniel’s debut with the World of Outlaws, with his mentor, former World of Outlaws champion Danny Lasoski, turning the wrenches.

“Danny and Brian Brown were a big help in sharing how to get around that place fast,” Daniel shared. “I definitely learned a lot and look forward to racing with the Outlaws again this weekend and learning even more.”

A stout field of 32 drivers were in attendance, with Daniel stopping the clock 26th fastest in time trials. He both started and finished seventh in the second eight-lap heat race. Daniel ended the night with an eighth-place showing in the Last Chance Showdown.

“For someone who hasn’t run a 410 before, you could say, ‘Ah, well it’s a sprint car, it’s pretty similar,’ but it’s actually a big difference, especially on the bigger tracks,” he said. “There is a big difference in how fast you go into the corners. Your reaction time is so much faster than in a 360 as well. There are a lot of factors that go into it that make it very challenging.”

Daniel will wrap up his 2018 campaign this weekend. He will take to the track with World of Outlaws on Friday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan. The Californian competed at Lakeside Speedway earlier this season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com. Daniel won the first heat race in that event and finished 12th in the main event.

Depending on weather, the 18-year-old may continue on to Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kan., on Saturday.

“Lakeside was the first half mile I was ever on,” he said. “I had a good time there and am looking forward to going back. We won a heat race that night and finished the whole main event. I’m hoping we can go back there and be strong.”
