Wyckoff, Borczuch, Bartlome and Lille All Grab Wins at Pepsi Autograph Night at Sandusky

(SANDUSKY, OHIO, Sunday, July 24th, 2016)- The car count may have been down at the Sandusky Speedway this weekend, but what it lacked in cars was made up for with hard-nosed racing action and some first time winners. Joey Wyckoff would run away with the win from the pole of the twenty lap modified feature while Joe Borczuch would come from the back to pass Jerry Karl and Jeff Karl for the win of the twenty lap sportsman feature. Kegan Bartlome would win his first ever feature event in racing action on the half-mile as a driver for the defending Street Stock champion Logan Cooper by winning the twenty lap Street Stock event. Kelly Lille would win her second feature of 2016 after touring around for most of the season in the Hobby Stock division's fifteen lap feature event.
The Melinda! Melinda! Hobby Stock division's fifteen lap feature event was up first as Brandon Halcomb and Trent Aslaksen paced them off to the green flag. Richard Clem would take the lead in turn one as Dan Smith went to the outside of Halcomb for the runner-up position for the first three laps. Halcomb would eventually take the lead from Clem on the back straightaway on lap seven with Smith going to the runner-up position in turn four on the same lap. Smith would spin his teammate Halcomb on accident in turn three at the halfway point in the race, for which Smith would be charged with the caution and sent to the back of the field. Halcomb, Clem, Kelly Lille, Aslaksen, and Jay Shields made up the top five for this restart.
Kelly Lille would take the runner-up position on the backstraightaway on the restart but the move would be negated as Dan Smith would break an axle on the backstraightaway, putting the field under the yellow flag once again. Halcomb, Clem, Lille, Aslaksen, and Shields would remain the top five for this restart with just eight laps in. Lille would take the runner-up position from Clem on the restart in turn three and would pass Halcomb for the lead in turn four on lap eleven. The race would end with Kelly Lille winning over Brandon Halcomb, Richard Clem, Trent Aslaksen, Nick Wolfe, and Jay Shields. Dan Smith did not finish.
The Milan Automotive Street Stock twenty lap feature was up next with Doug Cantley and Mike White leading the field to the green flag. White would take the lead in turn one while Kegan Bartlome would get to the second position on the back straightaway. Macy Fox would take the fifth position in turn two on lap eight but Kegan Bartlome would take the lead from Mike White in turn four at the halfway point and not look back. Bartlome would go on to win his first ever feature event over White, Mark Resor, Cantley, Fox, and Richard Sheriff.
Randy Wedell and John Karl would lead the field to the green flag for the twenty lap Wolfpack Sportsman division feature. Karl would take the lead on the back straightaway with Joe Borczuch taking the runner-up position in turn two on lap two. Rich Clingan would take the third position on the back straightaway on lap two. Borczuch would take the lead from Karl on the back straightaway on lap five, but Jerry Karl was coming in the #42 machine and he moved into the runner-up position in turn one on lap six. John Karl would spin in turn three on lap six, forcing a restart with Borczuch leading Jerry Karl, Rich Clingan, Jeff Karl and Randy Wedell.
Rich Clingan would get by Jerry Karl on the restart for the runner-up position. However, Clingan would overheat on lap eleven and pull into the pits. This would give Joe Borczuch the win over Jerry Karl, Jeff Karl, and Randy Wedell. Rich Clingan and John Karl did not finish.
The modified division was the last feature to take to the track as Joey Wyckoff and Steven Drew paced the field to the green flag for the twenty lap affair. Wyckoff went to the early lead with Jason Wells trying a gutsy three-wide move in the middle in turn one to pick up the runner-up position. Kenny Sharp would take the fourth position on the back straightaway on lap two. Sharp would then move to the third position on the back straightaway on lap nine. However, it was all Joey Wyckoff up front as he picked up his first ever modified feature win at Sandusky Speedway over Jason Wells, Kenny Sharp, Steven Drew, Jason Drew, and Ryan Winningham.
