WELCOME BACK RACE FANS!
The long battle to allow fans back into the grandstands at Sandusky Speedway is over, and just in time for Saturdays first appearance of the Modified division. The ruling came down last Saturday night after the show had already started. The ruling allows for 50 % capacity of the grandstands or 2,000 people. There will be guidelines that need to be followed. The wearing of face masks is up to the individual. Anyone who harasses another person who is wearing or not wearing a face mask will not be tolerated.
The Modifieds will have a $1,000 to win feature and are joined tonight by the Pure Stocks, Renegades, Beginner Stocks and Weekend Warriors. Stephen Klinect is the 2019 Modified champion. Klinect was also awarded the prestigious Ralph Jaycox Achievement Award at the Sandusky Speedway Banquet of Champions last October. The pit gates open at 2 p.m. Grandstand admission and hot laps start at 4 p.m. Qualifying is at 5:30 p.m. with racing starting at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $12, $5 ages 6-12, free to ages 5 and younger. A pit pass is $30.
Congratulations to last weeks feature winners Kyle Lawson (Pure Stocks); Dan Smith (Renegades); Jaden McCall (Beginner Stocks). Brad Merritt set a track record in the Renegade division with a time of 21.47.
Coming up next Sat. June 27 will be the Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Renegades, Beginner Stocks and a kids bike give away. The Sandusky Speedway Karting Series is in action tomorrow Sun. June 21 with a points race. The gates open at 10 a.m. Open practice from noon until 1 p.m. There will be a drivers meeting at 1:15 p.m. with racing starting at 2 p.m. A pit pass is $10.
