Tanner Mullens

Mullens masters Longdale

After his slated weekend trip to Texas with USMTS was washed out, Tanner Mullens turned his attention to Longdale Speedway on Friday. He left the 3/8-mile oval in Longdale, Oklahoma, with his first victory of 2024 after turning in a perfect evening.

When the event got underway, Mullens was among 25 USRA Modified drivers at the track for the first night of the Walleye Rodeo Roundup. He led every lap of his heat race, then began the 20-lap, $1,000-to-win feature from the top spot. Mullens showed the way for the entirety of the race and took the checkered flag with a 1.227-second margin of victory over runner-up finisher Cole Traugott. Rodney Sanders rounded out the podium, while Tyler Wolff finished fourth and Matthew Day came home fifth.

On Saturday, Mullens and his team were off to Park City, Kansas, to compete with the USRA Heartland Modified Tour in the Dalice Franz Memorial at 81 Speedway. An impressive 54 Modifieds were at the 3/8-mile track for the $2,000-to-win program.

Mullens drove to second in his heat and started seventh in the 30-lap main event. However, he hit the wall in Turn Four early in the A-Main, forcing him to retire. He recorded a 25th-place result.
