Bacon a Passing Master at USAC’s Winter Dirt Games
Lonnie Wheatley, WINCHESTER, Ind. (February 19, 2021) – Brady Bacon kicked off his USAC National Sprint Car title defense in strong fashion by racing to a pair of strong finishes in last weekend’s “Winter Dirt Games” at Ocala, Florida’s Bubba Raceway Park.
“The Macho Man” advanced eight positions aboard the Hoffman Racing Fatheadz Eyewear No. 69 in both the Thursday and Friday night features, rallying from 12th to fourth in the Thursday night opener and then from tenth to second in Friday night’s 30-lapper.
The pair of strong runs put Bacon third in event points through the opening two nights, locking him into Saturday’s finale only to have it canceled by rain.
With a pair of Hard Charger performances to open the season, Bacon earned the event’s ProSource Passing Master award.
“We have a really good car, we just have to do a little better job qualifying,” Bacon explained. “I wish we could have got Saturday in, we wouldn’t have started any worse than eighth which was better than we started all weekend.”
Bacon’s first USAC Sprint Car action of 2021 came after racing into his fourth career Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals championship “A” Main and second in the last three years just last month at the Tulsa Expo Raceway only to get collected in an opening lap incident that sidelined him from the 55-lapper.
After a pair of idle weekends, Bacon will take aim at the ASCS Elite “Texas Non-Wing Nationals” $10,300 winner’s share at Ennis’ Big O Speedway on March 4-6 abord the Wedgewood No. 98 Sprint Car.
