"I think we have finally gotten rid of all of the gremlins," says Austin Alumbaugh of the Medicine Shoppe #33 while climbing out of the car after Saturday night's A main at Lake Ozark Speedway.

The night started off rough for the Austin and the Medicine Shoppe team. Hot laps proved to be interesting due to a temper mental motor. “The motor was acting really funny, I would come off the corner and it would sputter a little bit and I didn’t want to take any chances of hurting the motor,” says Alumbaugh. The crew pulled the hood and made some minor adjustments to the motor to try and resolve the problem.

The cushion was already 6 feet from the fence by the time the Sprint Cars rolled out to race the heat races. Terrible track conditions proved to be a challenge for Alumbaugh in his heat race going from 4th to 6th. Alumbaugh stated, “It was follow the leader around the top, if you were a little bit off on your adjustments, you would not move forward. I was a little bit free, which bit us pretty good as far as making up ground.”

Alumbaugh’s 6th place finish in the heat set him on the outside pole for the B main. At the drop of the green, Alumbaugh pulled out to a comfortable lead and sailed to the checkered flag. “As much as I hate to say it, these B mains that we have been running lately are just helping us. They are giving us an opportunity to read the racetrack a little bit better than everyone else,” say Alumbaugh about his B main win.

Alumbaugh’s B main win, slated him to start 16th in the $2,000 to win A main. Riding the rim of the 1/3 mile oval, Alumbaugh quickly made up some ground on the leaders. On lap 10, a yellow came out showing Alumbaugh had already cracked the top 10 in 9th place. Searching the racetrack, Alumbaugh found himself in the 8th position with 4 to go. At the drop of the green on lap 21, Alumbaugh searched to 7th place and began a battle for the 5th place spot. After disposing of the 5th and 6th place cars, Alumbaugh missed 4th place by half a car length. “Wow, what a night. I’d like to thank all of my guys in the pits for helping to make this car as fast as it was. I’d also like to thank my marketing partners for all of their help this year because it has been a struggle thus far. Last but not least, I’d like to thank Mike and Melissa Schure at Schure Built Suspensions for putting up the money for the Hard Charger Award.”

Next up: Austin Alumbaugh and the Medicine Shoppe #33 will be at US 36 Speedway on Friday, June 17th and Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday, June 18th.
