Inside Line Promotions – MONROE, La. (May 11, 2021) – Channin Tankersley made the most of his return to racing last Saturday following more than a month off.

The Old School Racing driver swept the ASCS Lone Star Region and ASCS Mid-South Region co-sanctioned event at Revolution Park Speedway, earning his third win of the year in only his sixth start.

“In hot laps we were trying to get comfortable after being off for a while,” Tankersley said. “We had fairly good pace and made some adjustments to the car before the heat race. The track started getting pretty slick. I hit the first lap really good and the stars aligned. I rolled the bottom really good and everyone went more toward the top. I was able to get the lead. As soon as I was clear I jumped to the top and hit my marks.”

Tankersley’s charge from fifth to win his heat race earned a spot into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 2 to line up on the outside of the front row for the A Main.

“Going into it I had a game plan,” he said. “The track pretty much lost the cushion. It was essentially slick from the bottom to the top. It was banked more toward the middle so my plan was to snug the car where we could roll the middle really good. We went out there and on the burn lap I felt we were decent. On the start I didn’t jump to the lead on the get-go and the polesitter beat me into turn one. We were able to clear him in turn three and we were able to hold our own. We had a caution five or six laps in. I felt the track was starting to lay some rubber down. After the restart I moved toward the bottom. It laid rubber and we stayed down there. Once we got in clean air I was running a moderate pace, trying to keep the car straight and hit my marks. The cautions flew at good times as I never had to race hard in traffic. As soon as I’d catch the back of the field they’d have a caution. Things worked out.”

Tankersley led the distance of the feature. The victory was the first of his career at the track as well as with both the ASCS Lone Star Region and the ASCS Mid-South Region. It marked his 31st career ASCS regional triumph.

Tankersley plans on racing this Friday at Heart O’ Texas in Waco, Texas, with the Bandits Outlaw Sprint Series. He was victorious at the track on March 12.
