Taylor and Dunlap Tackling TBJ Promotions’ Midget Round Up July 5-6

Inside Line Promotions – OWASSO, Okla. (June 24, 2019) – Veteran racer Gary Taylor will be invading the 4th annual Midget Round Up next month.
Taylor and car owner Brian Dunlap are scheduled to tackle the marquee TBJ Promotions’ midget event on July 5-6 at Airport Raceway in Garden City, Kan. Both the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series and the POWRi Lucas Oil RMMRA Series are sanctioning the event.
“We went two years ago with Casey Shuman and last year with Tyler Thomas,” Dunlap said. “We ran second during the Saturday night race the first year and last year on the first night we were leading it and ended up getting upside down after getting together with another car. We’ve had good speed.
“Garden City is a fun town to go race in. The crowd is good and it’s a neat track. It draws some good, competitive cars. Both the POWRi West and Rocky Mountain guys are a lot of fun to race with. Schedule-wise it worked out well as Gary had the ability to take some time off so it made too much sense not to go.”
It will be an 11-hour haul each way for Dunlap’s team and it will mark the second event that Taylor will drive for Dunlap and his father. Taylor made his debut with the team in January during the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals.
“It’s been great,” Dunlap said. “We align on a lot of fronts and he’s awesome to work with. We’re not in a position to run 50 shows a year and neither is he. Things work out really well for us to run together.
“Another big draw to Garden City is that when you’re working on a program around the Chili Bowl, Garden City isn’t that different. What we learn there we can apply and vice versa.”
In addition to the midgets, Winged ‘A’ Class micro sprints with the NOW600 Tel-Star Technologies Kansas Region will also compete both nights during the event.
The front gates are scheduled to open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. each night.
Tickets are $20 for adults on July 5 and $15 on July 6. Children ages 12-years-old and younger get in free both nights.
