Running With The Outlaws

It was a week of uncommon race nights for James Giossi and crew this week. On Tuesday team 11 headed north to Gondik Law Speedway to run with the World of Outlaws and on Sunday it was back to Red Cedar with the Outlaws.

Giossi and crew headed to Superior on Tuesday the 13th to run at one of James's best tracks, Gondik Law Speedway. Trying to follow up a great run last year, James was determined to do even better on his trip this year. The track was definitely different from last year, as the lap times were much quicker in hot laps. James went out for qualifying and again had a solid lap which put him 5th quick overall. This would start him first row outside of his heat race. Unfortunately, James would lose just one position and come home 3rd. This finish was enough to put James in the 8th starting position for the feature. The field took the green and they were off. The track shaped up to be a great racing surface as it was 2 and 3 wide all over. Giossi would manage to make some veteran moves to get up to 5th. As James was all over 4th place the caution would fly. Ending out the last laps of the race, several cautions would come out and James would come across the line in 5th. It was a great night for Giossi and crew to run so great with the Outlaws.

Taking momentum from Tuesday, the team headed into Sunday at Red Cedar Speedway with some extra confidence. Again qualifying would be first. James would roll out as one of the later cars in the group. The track was technical as it was still being worked in. Team 11 would set the 10th quickest time. 10th quickest put Giossi in the 5th starting spot for his heat. Giossi was able to gain a spot for most of the race, coming to the last lap. The high side of the track was coming in and on the last corner, Ryan Gustin was able to sneak by and take 4th from James. This move would put team 11 on the front row of a B Main. In the B, Giossi quickly grabbed the lead and won by almost half a lap. Winning the B Main put James in the 17th starting spot for the feature. He had his work cut out. Working through the field, by the time the 40 lap race was over, Giossi would cross the line in 11th, up 6 spots. Overall it was a great 2 nights with the World of Outlaws!

Up next is the month of money race for the Late Models at Cedar Lake Speedway. $5,000 to win! See you there!
