Cottage Grove, Oregon- A full pit area of over ninety cars would be in attendance at Cottage Grove Speedway on Saturday June 11th for the Prelude To The Wallbanger Cup. A whopping six classes would be on the card featuring the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints, Late Models, IMCA Sports Mods, Street Stocks, Quality RV Repair Hornets, and Dwarf Cars.

Cottage Grove’s Patrick Dill would storm to the front and get the lead on lap two in the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints. Dills, in his Cedric Ross Hayden For Oregon State Representative/M.D. Yearous Logging/Oregon Research Consultants/Jacob Daniels Attorney at Law #5D KPC, would be briefly bottled up in lapped traffic but would remain in the coveted position. It would be the second straight victory for Patrick Dills and the team.

The Driving Force Graphics/Tube Shark Tube Benders/jimsflagsales.com #46 Rocket, of Darren Coffell from Bend, would lead the opening circuits of the Late Model main. He would be passed on lap four by fellow central Oregonian Ron Brewster on lap four. Brewster would remain in the top spot the rest of the distance to put his Central Oregon Trucking/Driving Force Graphics #31B Rocket in the winner’s circle.

The IMCA Sport Mod feature would be a caution plagued affair. Despite having to deal with several restarts through the course of the race Vancouver, Washington’s Chris Frisbie would be the car to beat. Frisbie, in the Frisbie Motorsports/Clark Printing/Discount Race Car Parts/Harbor Rail Services Company #17 Shaw, would blaze the trail for every single lap to win his first career race at CGS.

It would take Corvallis chauffeur Kevin Williamson eight laps to get in the top place position in the Street Stock main. Williamson would then take care of business and distance himself from the main body of the pack to win the race. It was the first feature win for the Eugene Mortgage Brokers/Furniture Options/Royalty Homes #W7 team in 2016 at Cottage Grove.

Westfir driver Josh Corley returned to top form in the Quality RV Repair Hornets. Corley would get to the front on lap five and stayed there for the remainder of the distance. It would be the fourth win of the current campaign for the J&M Racing/Junction City Muffler Shop #7C Nissan 200SX.

Last but not least would be the Dwarf Cars. Obtaining the lead late in the feature on lap twenty-two Ryan Martinez would take off after that point. The Portland driver would go on to win in his Van Raden Industries/Auto Truck Wholesale #9 M&M.

Monday June 13th and Tuesday the 14th will see the Wild West Modified Shootout come to town. There will be some of the best IMCA Modified drivers in the country, as well as Canada, make their way to Cottage Grove for two nights of racing. Tickets are $8.00 and Kids (5 and Under) get in for FREE. Or you can buy a two-day pass for just $10.00!
