Fezard Fends Off Misfortune, Finishes Fifth

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Getting back to racing action after a week off for prom, Bradley Fezard nabbed his first top-five of the season after early issues buried him deep in the field for the main event. At his home track, I-30 Speedway, Fezard was set to face off with 14 other micro sprint competitors in the pursuit to take the checkered flag first.
Two heat races would help determine the lineup for the feature race: the 15-year-old Fezard led early in the second heat race from his outside front row starting position, but rolled to a stop with about half the race complete, facing a wiring fault.
A DNF in the heat race meant starting at the back of the pack in the main event. Starting 12th, Fezard picked off car after car in his Stallard/Honda, operating the machine through the field and eventually finding himself in the fourth spot with just one lap remaining. He would fall back one position to fifth on the last lap, but the top-five finish was a stout run in light of the starting position as well as the situation under the hood. “We just really struggled on a big track with a stock motor,” Fezard said, acknowledging that the engine in the car isn’t the team’s strongest, but rather a stock one that is in the car for the stock races that they ran in Oklahoma in March.

Fezard is next scheduled to compete on April 24 at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois, and on April 25 at Macon Speedway in Macon Illinois, both with the POWRi Outlaw Micro Series in the #58 600cc micro sprint entry.
