World Finals Recap for Hoffman

Nick Hoffman piloted the Scott Bloomquist Racing No. 0NH NOS Energy entry into battle over the weekend in the NGK NTK World Finals with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series at The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.).

Thursday’s qualifying was rained out so the event officially came to life on Friday with 46 entries on hand for the $12,000-to-win event. After qualifying 18th fastest he advanced from ninth to fifth in his heat race, which positioned him second on the for a Last Chance Showdown. After finishing second in the Last Chance Showdown, he earned the 20th-starting spot. After not making up any ground early in the 50-lap feature he retired to a 20th-place finish.

The team returned to competition on Saturday for the final round of action. A much better qualifying effort found him fifth fastest in his group, and he followed it up with a fourth-place finish in his heat race to earn the 13th-starting spot for the feature. In the main event Hoffman once again retired early to save his equipment and was credited with a 25th-place finish.

Hoffman also raced on Tuesday in Tanner Gray’s Micro Sprint at Millbridge Speedway (Salisbury, N.C.) in the Walkapedia Carolina Micro Showdown presented by DIRTVision. Nick had a fast hot rod that he felt like was capable of winning. Unfortunately though, after charging from 22nd to 12th, Hoffman was collected in a crash that ended his outing.
