Inside Line Promotions – EAST MOLINE, Ill. (Sept. 27, 2021) – Garet Williamson recorded a pair of runner-up results last weekend during a Sprint Invaders doubleheader.

The two second-place outings give the Bryant Paver Motorsports driver four podiums and six top 10s in his seven races this month.

Williamson finished where he started – second – in a heat race on Saturday at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. He then gained a pair of positions in the dash to place fifth. Williamson lined up on the outside of the front row in the A Main.

“We had the lead going into turn one and the yellow came out,” he said. “On the restart the polesitter slid me into turns one and two. Terry McCarl knew it was coming and rolled the bottom to get by both of us. A couple of laps later I got to second.”

Williamson reeled in McCarl midway through the race before a caution hampered his attempt at taking the lead.

“We were side by side in turn four in the middle of the race and a caution came out again,” he said. “I think we had a car to win, but it just didn’t play out in our favor.”

Williamson’s second-place result was his 10th top five of the season.

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday at East Moline Speedway, where Williamson advanced from third to second in both a heat race and the main event.

“It’s nice to run that good, but at the same time we want to get wins,” he said. “I think we had a better chance at winning than the previous night. We ran second to J.J. Hickle most of the night. We had a caution with about 15 laps to go. I slid him going into turn one and got him. Paul Nienhiser hit the bottom and got by both of us. We ran him down later in the race and just ran out of time.”

This weekend features the Short Track Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour on Friday and Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.

“I think we can be a contender,” Williamson said. “We are good there and we’re running on some confidence. There’s no reason we shouldn’t be in the top five.”
