I-96 Speedway
Stemler, Frye, DeYoung, and Jenema Pick Up Wins at I-96
Lake Odessa, Michigan (Sunday July 25th, 2014): The I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan just east of Grand Rapids, and west of Lansing held another full night of racing at their fast 3/8ths (0.375) mile semi banked dirt oval. The program was headlined by the UMP DIRTcar Modifieds. UMP DIRTcar Pro Modifieds, UMP DIRTcar Street Stocks, and UMP DIRTcar Sport Compacts were on hand as well. All of the drivers continued their chase for track, state, and national championships.
The UMP DIRTcar Sport Compacts would see defending track champion Nick Jenema pick up the feature win making it his seventh win of the season. Finishing second was Scott Rumsey. Christina Sherwood and Jake Symmes completed the field. Rumsey was the winner of the heat race.
The UMP DIRTcar Street Stocks held their feature event that was won by the defending UMP DIRTcar Stock Car National Champion Josh Frye. This was his eighth win of the year. Richard Hyvarinen finished in second. Luke Hubbell, Bill Brandt Sr., and Ron Harper rounded out the top five. Hubbell and Frye were the heat race winners.
Johnny DeYoung was the big winner for the UMP DIRTcar Pro Modifieds feature event, picking up his second win in a row and third for the season. Brody Bowser finished just behind in second. Chad Mauer, Kenny Playter, and Austin Wonch made up the top five. Bowser and Mauer won the heats.
Finally, the UMP DIRTcar Modifieds squared off in their A-Main feature. When the dust settled it was defending track champion Travis Stemler taking home the checkered flag. Aaron Morey finished second. Tim Dalman, Steve McClees, and Jason Hoogerhyde completed the top five. Collin Thirlby, and Morey won the heats.
This Friday August 1st I-96 Speedway will be invaded by the fire-breathing winged warriors of the Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP. Plus, the UMP DIRTcar Pro Modifieds, and UMP DIRTcar Street Stocks will be in action as well. The Pit gates will open at 4:30pm. The grandstands will open at 5:30pm. Hot Laps will take place at 6:30pm, and after pre-race ceremonies/invocation/ national anthem(s) the green flag will fly at 8:00pm.
