Macklin Storms Through the field to Take the Dean Garland Classic!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Macon, IL) In a race that seemed to be a marathon, Nick Macklin turned an earlier misfortune into a big payday, taking the checkered flag in the inaugural running of the Dean Garland Classic at Macon Speedway!

After finishing second in his respective heat race, Macklin neglected to navigate to the technical inspection area, thus giving up his second place finishing position for a sixth place finish instead. The seventeenth place starting position seemed to be no trouble at all as Macklin made his way into the top ten on lap nine and in the top five on lap 22, just after the halfway point of the forty lap race.

Biding his time, Macklin used the restarts to his advantage, gaining multiple positions with each one. With three laps remaining, AJ Meiferdt, winner of the MSSC FALS Flash 20 in June, was in control of the race. As the white flag flew, Macklin made a pass on the top and was able to make it stick, coming back around to the double checkered flags and a nice $1,000 payday.

Macklin was followed to the line by Meiferdt, Dave Crawley, JR., Bobby Beiler, and Jerrad Krick.

Dave Crawley, JR. was the Driven Racing Oil Fast Qualifier and the JAZ Products Dash winner.

Nick Macklin was the Dirt Trackin' Hard Charger Award Winner, gaining sixteen positions on his way to victory.

Our next event is July 16 at Spoon River Speedway for the Spoon Burger 40.
