Following the fourth-fastest time in his group, Kolby posted a second-place finish in his heat, which positioned him eighth on the starting grid for the Tribute to Don and Billie Gibson preliminary feature. With $6,000 on the line, Vandenbergh dropped one position in the 40-lapper to finish ninth.
With his finish on Friday night placing him on the fifth row for the $50,000-to-win Show-Me 100 finale on Saturday, Kolby faded back to an 18th-place outing after getting spun around on the 24th circuit.
On Sunday, Vandenbergh trekked to Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.) for the MARS Racing Series-sanctioned Gary Cook Jr. Memorial. After topping the 21-car field in time trials, Kolby locked his spot into the show with a second-place finish in his heat. Dropping one spot in the 40-lap affair, Kolby recorded a fifth-place finish, which came behind Jason Feger, Ryan Unzicker, Brian Shirley, and Rich Bell.
