Can-Am Speedway’s Christmas in July Celebrates Golden Jubilee with Vintage Thrills and Racing Action

It’s the end of July and it’s everyone’s favorite time of year at the Can-Am Speedway in Lafargeville New York. That’s right….It’s Christmas Time!!!

The Golden Jubilee Season is set to celebrate the annual Christmas in July Friday night at Can-Am with the one and only appearance on the season for the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club, featuring the cars of the 50s and 60s along with the cars of the 70s and 80s. The Vintage cars always put on a fantastic show at Can-Am and this year will be no different. Jason Riddell dominated the 70s and 80s class, while veteran Greg Hale notched the win in the 50s and 60s divison. Both will be back in action Friday night.

The regular card of racing will also feature the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modifieds. Last week Preston Forbes was the driver to beat, as he took the lead at the mid-point of the event and held off a hard charging Tim Fuller to collect his first 358 Modified win at Can-Am in his career and third overall this season.

The Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman saw something good happen to Dave Rogers, but it came at an expense. The Lafargeville New York native finally broke the bad luck string, as he scored his first Can-Am win of 2024, but it wasn’t without a little drama. About 100 feet before taking the checkered flag, Rogers lost the driveshaft from his car, but had a big enough lead over Gavin Eisele at the finish to grab the win in front of the hometown crowd.

Logan Brown was once again the talk of the town in the Donath Motor Worx Limited Sportsman. The Clayton New York Driver took the lead early and would march on to his division leading 6th win of 2024 over Camdin Cook and Genavieve Bartlett. Brown completed a successful weekend by winning at Brockville on Saturday night for a second time in 4 tries.

The Sundance Leisure ThunderCars always put on a great show at Can-Am. Last week Corey Valade, who only gets to Can-Am a few times all year long, held off repeated challenges from Anthony St. Mary Jr. and then held off a late charge from his good friend Justin Pope to secure the win, his first of the year.

Last week it was a great run for Andrew Hennessy as he continues his run to the top of the Panther Frameworx Crate Sprint Car division. Hennessy took the lead from Tucker Donath and managed to hold off points leader Josh Verne Jr. to score his division leading 4th win of the season. Hennessy also was able to get the Can Am/Brockville sweep, winning Saturday night as well at Brockville.

The top stars of the Can-Am Speedway will be ready to go Friday night and we hope you will be there as well. Gates open at 5pm with the first green flying at 7pm, as the Golden Jubilee Season marches on.
