Berry Jr. Competes in King of America XI; Finishes 10th in Finale

Tom Berry Jr. kicked off the rain-delayed King of America XI on Friday evening at Humboldt (Kan.) Speedway). A talent-laden field of 72 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entered the program, and Tom began his weekend by qualifying 11th fastest in his group.

Heat race action found Berry Jr. advancing from 11th to sixth, which relegated him to a B-Main. Unfortunately, he would be forced to scratch from the B-Main as his opening night came to an early end.

On Saturday night, Berry Jr. would have to fight tooth-and-nail, but he came away with a much better performance. After qualifying fifth fastest in his group, he passed two cars to finish third in his heat race.

While he didn't accumulate enough points to lock into the feature, he did earn the second-starting spot for a B-Main, which he won.

Rolling off 14th on the feature grid for the $15,000-to-win, King of America XI finale, Tom clawed forward four spots to finish 10th in the star-studded field.
