Drake Troutman competes in Late Model and Mod at Fairbury

Drake Troutman trekked to Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) on Friday afternoon to pull double duty in the Late Model and Modified ranks for the 32nd annual Prairie Dirt Classic weekend.

With the massive field of 81 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series split into two groups for time trials, Troutman followed up the 34th-fastest time in his group with an 18th-place finish in his 25-lap prelim.

In his Smith Transport No. 7 Modified, Drake came in ninth-fastest before placing ninth in his preliminary feature.

Slated to start deep in the field, Troutman decided to park his Late Model on Saturday to focus on his Modified program. Needing to place second or better in his consolation race to make the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Drake raced up to fifth but came up three spots shy of a transfer position at the line.
