Cole Embarks on IMCA RaceSaver Nationals

Cole Vanderheiden kicked off the 2022 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Nationals at Eagle (Neb.) Raceway on Thursday night.

Race of Champions heat race action found Cole starting on the pole of his heat race, and he went on to race to the victory.

On Friday the event kicked into high gear with a whopping 91 entries in the pit area. Starting seventh in his heat race Cole moved to a fifth-place finish, which relegated him to the E-Main. Needing to finish third or higher to keep his night alive, Vanderheiden slipped to a sixth-place finish as his night came to an early end.

On Saturday the team reset their sights on racing into the main event. Finishing second in his heat race sent Cole to the B-Main, where his outing ended with an 11th-place finish.

Vanderheiden rounded out Saturday's program in the Race of Champions, where he passed four competitors to finish eighth.

The weekend drew to a close on Sunday night, where Cole's previous night's performances lined up fifth on the starting grid in the D-Main. Unfortunately, he would struggle to get a handle on the track, and slipped to a 10th-place finish.

With only the Top-4 finishers moving on his weekend came to an early end, but he still learned a lot behind the wheel and looks forward to next year's Nationals!
