JETT GARNERS 'DICKSON CLASSIC' & BRIGHTWELL BAGS 'WORKIN' MAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP' SPECIAL AS AMERICA'S BADDEST BULLRING CELEBRATES MEMORIAL WEEKEND!

Memorial Day weekend's traditionally usher in summer, cookouts and America's remembrance of the armed service men and women who gave their lives for their nation. A heart stirring presentation from the Tyler County American Legion & Auxiliary Post 48 opened the proceedings for a Saturday evening show that featured 115 racers and a pair of annual headlining special events as the Tyler County Speedway celebrated Memorial Day with a full card of racing action.

The 19th annual Dickson Classic for the Jenkins Auto Parts UMP Modifieds co-headlined the evening's racing and kicked off the feature events. The 30-lap event had a rim-riding Shawn Jett clinging to a narrow advantage over KC Burdette, as the duo initially battled for the lead before a flat tire eliminated Burdette just past the race's midpoint. Upon the restart, Danny Thomas and Chad Smith tussled in a hotly contested battle for second, allowing Jett to ease away from the pair and nab his second feature win of the season in the Sam Irvin owned Pierce chassis. Thomas narrowly prevailed over Smith for the runner-up spot, and the podium position finishers received trophies from the Dickson family for their efforts. Coleman Evans was fourth and Ryan Jones turned in a fine 5th place finish.

The co-headlining and annual Working Man World Championship for the J&L Collision Center EDGE Hot Mods saw Cody Brightwell park the Michael Thomas owned #27 in the EQT Corporation Victory Lane, leading wire to wire for a $2000 payday. Brightwell turned back early challenges from class point leader Brian Probst, then benefitted from the hotly-contested positional battles for positions 2-5. 6th starting Steve 'Big Daddy' Magyar would methodically work his way to second, but the laps would run out before he could mount a serious challenge, and Probst would narrowly turn back Thomas Sigler for 3rd. Eddie Probst would round out the top 5.

Saying "I think we may have found a new home" afterwards, Tyler Evans made a savvy move early in the Stutler Motorsports Super Late Model event and sped to his second feature win of the season at 'America's Baddest Bullring'. The second-generation racer worked his way through traffic with ease to dominate the 25-lap affair in his Evans Construction and Paving Longhorn Chassis. Cody Rogers turned in a strong performance with a runner-up finish, Brian Baumberger beat Kyle Thomas by a cats-whisker for 3rd after a nearly race long, side by side positional battle and Steve Weigle rounded out the top 5.

Kyle Thomas grappled with Brandon Weigle in the opening laps of the J&R Excavating RUSH Late Model main before running to the checkered flag uncontested for the remainder of 20 lap feature. Weigle, AJ Spagnoula, Donnie Dotson and Ryan Hare would round out the top 5 finishers in a quickly run event.

Plentiful position changes were the order of the evening's Middlebourne Galaxy Food Center Sportmod feature event. Josalyn Hibbard led the opening lap before Jeff Gorrell took command. Gorrell led the field past the race's midpoint before a methodical Lance Weppler made his presence known, taking the lead and eventually the win, his third of the season, in the 15 lap main. Gorrell was a close second, with a charging Wesley Reed coming from deep in the field for third. Hibbard turned in a sterling effort with a 4th place finish and Kendall Hodge rounded out the top 5.

The rim riding Noah Bubeck held off the equally high-flying Travis Corbin in the Dual Threat Sports Cards SCDRA 4-cylinder main, with Hunter Stephens, Mitch Eddy and Timothy Harlan completing the top five finishers.

The Hino Motors Manufacturing USA Mini-wedge main events went to Eli Smith, Cruz Thomas and Erickson Smith.

America's Baddest Bullring will take a pit stop next weekend as we take a one weekend hiatus to enjoy the 2-day Lucas Oil Late Model extravaganza called the 'Historic 100' at the West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, WV.

The next event at Tyler County Speedway will be the wildly popular June 10th 'Pack the Track' Night, where all General Admission attendees will enjoy a night of racing action 'no strings attached', totally free courtesy of the Hometown Racing Association along with ‘Picture & Autograph Night’ at intermission. Plan to be there early for the best seats as the usual packed house is expected.
