3rd Annual Winter Showdown Series Will Be The Biggest And Best So Far
Winter Haven, FL – The 3rd Annual Winter Showdown Series, which takes place February 5-8 at Auburndale Speedway , will be the biggest edition of the series yet, with at least five divisions and over 100 cars from across the USA, Canada, and the UK expected to see action during this rapidly growing Speedweeks event.
The 602 Modifieds will be returning for the second straight year, with drivers from the Northeast and the Carolinas expected in a combined six-race series with New Smyrna Speedway . If 20 or more cars enter the Auburndale races, the purse will increase from $500 to win on Thursday to $750 on Friday and then $1000 to win on Saturday.
Sponsorship is being sought for a point fund for all six 602 Modified races, with the goal being to build this combined series into a premiere series each year for this division.
For the first time, the Baby Grands will join the card, racing all three days. 15-20 cars are expected. These quick little cars, which resemble older NASCAR Cup Series cars, feature drivers from across the USA, UK, and Canada, and this event will be one of the largest events of the year for these cars.
Also returning will be the Legend Cars and Bandoleros, with their racing taking on additional importance due to the addition of the U.S. Legend Cars International and INEX Winternationals event to Auburndale’s schedule the week after the showdown. A showdown record field of Legend Cars and Bandoleros is expected, with teams taking advantage of the opportunity to get even more racing in while in Florida and dial in their cars for the Winternationals the following week.
The TQ Midgets from the Northeast will join the event for the second straight year, with 25-30 racers from the US and Canada doing battle on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for an even larger purse than last year. This is the showcase event of the season for the TQ-Midget division, with drivers from five different racing clubs converging at Auburndale for two and three-wide action all week long.
Once again, each day’s racing from the Winter Showdown will be broadcast live on SeriesShowdown.com via pay-per-view.
A new website is being readied for this year’s event, and it will be found at showdownseries.com. Follow the Winter Showdown on Facebook and Instagram by searching Showdown Series.
