Midwest Legends Dirt Series
Track ID: Maquoketa Speedway
With the 2nd Midwest Legends Dirt Series season right around the corner, we want to spotlight the tracks we will be visiting throughout the season. Some tracks will be familiar to fans of the MLDS while some tracks will be completely new. Let’s jump in and learn about some spectacular facilities!!
The first track the MLDS will visit is Maquoketa Speedway. A staple to the MLDS schedule, Maquoketa Speedway in Maquoketa, Iowa hosted three MLDS events last season. Ryan Sullivan, Jackson Lewis, and Jordan Miklas shared the spoils of winning at the three events. The events last season hosted, on average, 28 cars, making it the highest attended division of the season at the track.
Drivers to keep your eyes on when the cars hit Maquoketa are the previous champions such as Jeff Schmidt and Dave Eberle. Both drivers are threats wherever they go, but even more so when they are on home turf. Hayden Schmuhl and Kacey Korsmo are 2 other drivers to watch. Both brought home solid top 10 finishes in their appearances at the Speedway during MLDS action last year.
The track, a 1/4th mile dirt oval, features fast straightaways and sweeping corners, and will host a grand total of 4 events this season with the MLDS. The season opener on April 16th, a night of weekly action on June 28th, a return to the Jackson County Fair Night on July 23rd, and a non-points night to wrap the season up on October 18th for the Darkside Iowa Dirt Nationals.
