California RaceSaver Sprints
A Little Bit More..
It is no secret that the IMCA RaceSavers here on the west coast have been on life support for a few years now. Everyone may speculate on reasons or believe some theory, but we are not going down that rabbit hole. We are focused on what is in front of us not behind us. With that said here is little background on what has been going on and how this new beginning came about. Oh, and the ‘we’ in this is myself (Alicia) and my husband (Brian) just in case you did not already know.
We are no strangers to the dirt track racing scene; many have deemed us the wife and husband team that is seen at just about every track in California. Just as many of us have, we started out as fans. One day Brian got a wild hair and decided to become a push truck, he did this for several years. I tagged along with Brian here and there when life would allow but in 2021, I became the first female push truck in California, which was an honor, and a bigger honor the last one to be vetted by Rich who is a legend in the push trucks of California. From there we were asked to assist at the Kings Speedway with Peter Murphy with PR and being officials. We did this for a season. We had the amazing opportunity to assist NARC with their shows as PR and officials. This is where I believed we got the husband/wife race team Title. With streaming kicking off hotter than ever, I was asked to be the West Coast producer for FloRacing. I was thrown in the deep end, sink or swim, no training, very little direction, just as with everything I jumped in headfirst. Brian was asked by Dean Mills to train as a camera operator. We followed the NARC King of the West series up and down the coast. Lived, learned, got amazing opportunities to travel with our sons, and loved every minute of it.
Fast forward, 2024 Brian works for BR Motorsports for the RaceSaver Champ Blake Robertson. It was then the RaceSaver series, and the demise of the series came to light. This was and is not okay. We discussed taking over the RaceSavers for several months, talked with several teams, IMCA, and did a lot of research.
We both believed, and obviously still believe, there is a need for the RaceSaver on the west coast. RaceSavers are not just a ‘starter’ class, it is an affordable way to go sprint car racing. Most people do not have hundreds of thousands of dollars in sponsorship to jump into a 360 or 410. In a RaceSaver class you the blue-collar hardworking man, who does all he can to make ends meet then just wants to go racing, is able to achieve just that.
Looking to the mid-west and east coast, seeing car counts of at least 25 or more on a weekly basis, putting on some of the best racing we’ve seen. We decided to take this on just as we do everything else, we have faced, grabbed the bull by the horns and said let’s do it. Before I knew it, I was gearing up for the 2025 season, talking with teams, sponsors, and attending workshops. Brian is learning the tech aspect, and we are less than 60 days away from our 2025 season opener. We will have bumps in the road and things to work out, but our goal was simple, schedule at least 15 races (we got 16), get a series sponsorship (Quick Change Liquid Energy), and drivers/teams interested (over 20 drivers/teams as of this date). We are off to a great start, and we will keep getting better and better.
We are making the little guys apart of the sport we all love again. Thank you to our sponsors for help us get this underway; Quick Change Liquid Energy, Rugged Radios, My Race Pass, Sidewaze Designs, BR Motorsports!
Let’s go racing!!??
