TECHNICAL BULLETIN: Updates to Rules and Procedures
Rules and Procedures Updates
Bakersfield, Calif. (February 3, 2025) - CARS Tour West has announced the following updates to its rules and procedures for the 2025 season. Competitors are encouraged to review these changes carefully to ensure compliance at all events.
Effective Immediately:
Electronic Devices Prohibited:
The use of electronic recording devices, onboard computers, or data acquisition devices during any OFFICIAL practice session, qualifying, or race is prohibited and will result in a penalty. An OFFICIAL practice is defined as any practice that is covered under a competitor's race entry and subject to additional test fees.
Random Draw:
Jointly with the Crew Chief Meeting, teams will participate in a random draw. The team may designate any member to draw for the team.
The results of the random draw will be posted at the CARS Tour West trailer.
The random draw results:
Establish the order in which cars will move through the inspection line;
Establish the qualifying order for the Event;
Set the Tire groups for the Event; and
Are used by Timing and Scoring.
Teams not participating in the random draw (i.e., late/post entries) will be placed at the discretion of the CARS Tour West Tech Director.
Horn Signal Procedure:
To help maintain a fair competitive environment and ensure smooth event operations, competitors should be aware of the following horn signals throughout the event:
Hauler Opening: After the hauler parking process is completed, all haulers must remain closed until the horn sounds to indicate that teams may begin unloading and working on their vehicles.
Crew Chief and/or Driver/Spotter Meeting: The horn will signal the start of the Crew Chief Meeting and/or Driver/Spotter Meeting. Attendance is mandatory as outlined in the event procedures.
Cars "On Ground Time": The horn will sound to indicate all cars must be on the ground. At this point, all work on vehicles must stop, and cars should be ready to roll through tech.
Tech Time: The horn will signal when it's time for cars to begin moving through the technical inspection line.
The time at which hauler parking begins and other key event activities will be designated on the event schedule. CARS Tour West advises all competitors to reference the Event Schedule upon hearing the horn signal throughout the weekend.
