Matthew setting sights on 2025
LITTLE ROCK, Iowa (February 4, 2025) -- The 2025 Racing Season is on the horizon, and the Matthew Lloyd Racing team is preparing for the new year and keeping options open for a racing schedule.
As a group, the family and driver have all made the decision to not follow any track points, as the busy summer schedule makes it impossible to hit every single date at any one track. Our biggest goal is to see an experience new things, and just race a lot more! We want to race at a minimum of 6 different race tracks, and race around 18-22 nights this season. Because of these factors, we've all got our sights set on two separate points championships that we can race for in 2025.
Our first and top scheduling priority in 2025 is going to be the AJC Kart Series. Our partners at MyRacePass have worked with Adam to get a professional and awesome looking website, and in those conversations it's become obvious that Adam is a guy who's investing in supporting the future of our support in the right way. He's the type of guy and this is the type of series we are excited to follow. The first big draw to the series is the format. With qualifying, a heat race invert, and a dash lining up the features, this has the feel of a bona-fide sprint car format, something that we really resonate with. It's the perfect format, in our eyes. Secondly, the diversity of race track within a reasonable footprint. The AJC Kart Series schedule is as follows:
May 2-4; a 3-day race weekend at Golden Spike Speedway
May 23-25; a 3-day race weekend in Brookings, SD for the "South Dakota State Championships!" We may have to miss the Saturday portion of this event for a wedding.
June 20-21; a 2-day race weekend next door to one of our favorite "big" tracks in the country, Cedar Lake Speedway. This event is dubbed the "Iron Man Shootout"
July 18-19; This one at the Poplar Grove Speedway in Kamrar, IA.
August 29-31; Back at Golden Spike for their championship 3-day weekend.
As you can see, this is a 12-event schedule that gets to 4 different tracks, a good start to meeting our goals and racing a great format for a potential championship! Beyond this schedule, we are putting together a list of other potential events to fill out our 2025 slate.
The other championship we are looking to run for is the new-look Mid Central Showdown Series Championship. This is a regional championship that takes the results of special shows and regular events at all of the race tracks in the area and crowns a Mid-Central champion. This means that no matter what events we go to, we are constantly earning points towards this points standing. We are excited to see this type of challenge come to kart racing in our area, and we're proud to support Angie and everyone involved in this new endeavor.
We have goals to race at Plessis Motor Speedway, Kee Kart Raceway, the LeMars, MN fair special, and potentially others. We also hope to fit in the Tasha Fester Memorial Series events as well.

We can't wait to see everyone at the track.
