Tifft kicks off season at Ocala
As the first week of February began, Matt Tifft lifted the lid on his 2025 racing campaign with a visit to Ocala Speedway to compete with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) in the Wieland Winter Nationals.
When competition got underway on Tuesday, Tifft drove his No. 57 GUNK Super Late Model in a $7,000-to-win program attracting 38 LOLMDS teams. He finished ninth in his heat race and eighth in his B-Main on the 3/8-mile Florida oval, ending his evening before the 30-lap main event.
The next night, the field increased by one car for another $7,000-to-win show. Tifft took 10th in his heat and did not start his consolation race, again bringing his night to a close in advance of the 30-lap A-Main.
On Thursday, the purse increased to $10,000 and the car count continued to grow, with 45 Super Late Models in the pit area. Tifft finished ninth in both his heat race and B-Main and was unable to advance into the evening’s 40-lap feature.
Tifft will race at Ocala again on Friday and Saturday.
