Brandon and Zach Lopez finish in top 5 at Atlanta, Whalen grabs 7th at Cordele

A pair of Georgia tracks were on tap for Bryson Lopez Racing teams over the weekend, and the Atlanta Paving & Concrete Construction-backed organization came away with top-10 finishes from each.

On Friday, Brandon and Zach Lopez competed in Legend cars on the quarter-mile frontstretch oval at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton. The program was part of the track's NASCAR weekend. In the Semi-Pro class, Brandon qualified with the second-quickest time in his No. 6 car, while Zach was fifth in his No. 18 machine.

In the 20-lap feature, Brandon Lopez finished third behind Nicolas Denton and Kyle Bacon, with Trey Tadrzak and Zach Lopez rounding out the top five.

Both drivers also participated in the Legends All-Star race. Brandon started seventh and finished 12th, while Zach rolled off 16th and came home in the 17th position.

The next night, Carter Whalen Racing powered by Bryson Lopez Racing took on the Pro Late Model class at the 4/10-mile Cordele (Georgia) Motor Speedway.

Carter Whalen qualified his No. 23 Andean Chevrolet SS 17th in the 22-car field, but the team elected to continue to make changes after qualifying and started last in the main event. After just four laps of the 100-lap race, Whalen suffered shifter issues and lost all gears but fourth. However, he persevered in the attrition-filled 100-lap race, and despite suffering extensive right-side damage on lap 94, finished in the seventh spot.
