Midwest Legends Dirt Series
Track ID: Angell Park Speedway
With the 2nd Midwest Legends Dirt Series season right around the corner, we want to spotlight the tracks we will be visiting throughout the season. Some tracks will be familiar to fans of the MLDS while some tracks will be completely new. Let’s jump in and learn about some fantastic facilities!!
The track that started it all for the MLDS is up next, with the world famous Fireman’s Angell Park Speedway making more appearances for the MLDS. The track where the first ever MLDS sanctioned event took place will host three big weekends of racing for the series.
A track that has been going since 1936, the only halt in action was during World War ll. The track has hosted midget racing ever since, making it the longest running midget track in the country. A track that has drawn in some of the best drivers in the world has played host to such series as the World of Outlaw Sprint Cars, USAC Sprint Cars and Midgets, IRA Sprint Cars, Dirt Kings Late Models, and the weekly Badger Midgets. The track also houses the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame, where fans can go during the season to look at the 272 inductees and honor the sport. An air-conditioned pavilion allows fans to view the action while being nice and cool.
Last season, Angell Park hosted the series three times, with champion Jackson Lewis sweeping two and rain winning the third. Jordan Miklas finished in second both times with Micheal Weber in third at the first race and Parker Jones third in the second. The track is such an outlier, no real driver is known to be better than the others, and the famous track draws cars from all over the country, with multiple states represented last season.
The 1/3rd clay oval will host three events for the MLDS in 2025. The first date will be Kevin’s Klassic on June 22nd. A week later, the Sun Prairie Fireworks Celebration will host the second day on June 29th. A week break from the track and then it’s back for the Racer’s Reunion Night on July 13th. All racing will be broadcasted on badgerracing.tv.
