Pair of top-5 results for LaRose at Open Wheel Madness
Zander LaRose of RS12 Motorsports returned to action in the Junior Sprints class over the weekend as he competed in strong fields at the Southern Illinois Center in DuQuoin. On both nights of the Open Wheel Madness program, he came home in the top five.
On Friday, “Z Man” was one of 19 drivers entered in the Junior Sprints class at the 1/6-mile temporary dirt track. He qualified fifth in his Avenue Auto No. 1z car and won his heat race after starting third. He rolled from second on the grid in the 20-lap feature and came home fourth behind RS12 teammate Kruize Parson, Paxton Belchik and Grayson Graham. Fifth place went to Ryker Toops.
The next night, the Junior Sprints field featured 20 drivers. LaRose again started strong, turning in the sixth-quickest time in qualifying. He then started second in his heat and took the checkered flag. He began the 20-lap A-Main from the third spot and finished fourth, crossing the start-finish line behind Parson, Belchik and Toops. RJ Smith rounded out the top five.
