Track ID: Sycamore Speedway

With the 2nd Midwest Legends Dirt Series season right around the corner, we want to spotlight the tracks we will be visiting throughout the season. Some tracks will be familiar to fans of the MLDS while some tracks will be completely new. Let’s jump in and learn about some fantastic facilities!!

Sycamore Speedway is next up on schedule. The first and only Illinois track on the schedule, Sycamore is a unique track that is excited to join the MLDS schedule for the 2025 schedule.

Sycamore joins the list of tracks that grows with each MLDS season. The track located in Maple Park, Illinois, is a fan favorite that brings a family vibe every night since its creation in 1960. From the home cooked food in the concession stands to the friendly staff, Sycamore is a track for the fans. The track has hosted series such as the ASCS Sprint Cars, POWRi Midgets, IRA Sprints, Badger Midgets, Dirt Kings Late Models, and even hosts a yearly Hell Tour race during the season. The track hosts weekly racing on Saturday nights with Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Limited Late Models normally.

With no known history of legends at Sycamore Speedway, another unknown of the season shows itself. An immediate thought is to look at all the Illinois drivers. Drivers like Jeff Schmidt, Nate Wolber, and Rob and Mackenzie Maule. Another driver to keep an eye on is Charlie Spoonmore. The Watertown driver used to call Sycamore home when he raced late models.

The 3/8th-mile semi-banked clay oval is set to host a single MLDS event in 2025. August 2nd is the day to put on the calendar when the legends make their debut, with the regular weekly classes in attendance as well.
