Zellmer Stands Tall in Plymouth

Plymouth, WI (April 26th, 2025) - Adam Zellmer picked up his first Midwest Legends Dirt Series win and returned to the top step of the podium in Plymouth. A long and grueling feature set Zellmer best of the best with the win.

The legends class had not run at the Plymouth Dirt Track since 2023, sanctioned by the now defunct Wisconsin Legends Dirt Racing Series. Adam Zellmer picked up the win back then and entered tonight's event as the favorite. Twenty-six cars made the trip to Plymouth for some great racing.

Three N&S Towing heat races started the night for the series. In his season debut, Dominic Van Riper showed the way to pick up the win followed by Talyn Neuman and Alex Haese. Heat two went to another driver on their season debut, this time Art Hahn got it done with Hayden Schmuhl and Ayden Erickson second and third. Adam Zellmer swept heat three with Lilly Fassbender and Connor Carey rounding out the top three.

The twenty-lap A-Main was next up on the track. After a nine car redraw, Hayden Schmuhl and Dominic Van Riper got the front row to themselves. Schmuhl got the jump on the field but was quickly drawn in and passed by third starting Talyn Neuman. Neuman led the field through a handful of restarts after numerous cautions before Schmuhl came back and retook the top spot. The color of the night was yellow, with many cautions leading up to a red flag on lap nine, as Charlie Spoonmore went rolling through turns one and two. Spoonmore would be okay and walk off track under his own power. Single-file restarts ensued and after one failed attempt, the field got it together and did some racing. Schmuhl led the field throughout the initial laps, with Adam Zellmer and Alex Haese breathing down his neck. Both Zellmer and Haese waited their turn, Zellmer working past Schmuhl for the lead on lap seventeen and Haese on the final lap. Zellmer was unchallenged for the win after, running away to pick up the win, continuing the streak at Plymouth. Haese picked up a career best second with Schmuhl coming home a respectable third. Ryan Sullivan and Cal Swenson rounded out the top five.

Adam Zellmer got prizes from Rush Race Gear and Aero Race Wheels for the win. Ryan Sullivan, after a fourteenth to fourth run picked up the Professional Plating and Rush Racegear hard charger award. Caleb DeYoung was awarded a gift from HMS Motorsport after his finishing position of twentieth was drawn by a lucky fan.

The Midwest Legends Dirt Series is next in action on Friday May 2nd, with a trip to Luxy Raceway on the cards, which starts a wild month of May.
