Great Lakes Traditional Sprints Set for Doubleheader Weekend

The Great Lakes Traditional Sprints (GLTS) launch their 2025 season this weekend with back-to-back races at two of Michigan’s premier dirt tracks. The action starts Friday, May 9 at I-96 Speedway and continues Saturday, May 10 at Butler Motor Speedway, bringing fans two nights of thrilling, wingless 410 sprint car racing.

Defending champion Steve Irwin, who’s claimed the GLTS title the past two seasons, returns looking to make it three in a row.

Also drawing attention is Max Frank, who recently made the tough decision to part ways with the Michigan Steel Webster Motorsports #38 Winged 360 after three seasons together. While his exact plans are still unfolding, Frank is expected to spend more time behind the wheel of a 410 non-wing sprint car this season — starting with this weekend’s GLTS opener.

Gates open at 4:00 PM both nights, with racing set to begin at 8:00 PM on Friday and 7:30 PM on Saturday. Fans can expect a stacked field, intense competition, and the raw energy that only traditional sprint car racing can deliver.
