Fantastic Weekend of IHRA Summit SuperSeries Races at Great Lakes

UNION GROVE, Wisc. — The weather conditions weren’t ideal, but the racing was fantastic at Great Lakes Dragaway last weekend.

It was cold. It was windy. But, it turned out to be what was described as a “fantastic weekend” of IHRA Summit SuperSeries points racing.

Ben Stenson was both the Mod ET and Combo winner on Saturday, while Dion Degnitz ruled the Top ET class. Bob Foster captured the Bike / Sled victory with a final-round win over Doug Burket.

Amy Stephan started off a memorable weekend with the first of back-to-back Street class victories. Tyler Wied was the Junior Dragster winner with his brother, Carson, his final-round opponent.

Rick Scott was the Top ET and Combo winner for a second straight Big Check Sunday. Pete Sarauer captured the big check in Mod ET, while Dan McCarten raced to the Bike / Sled victory.

Tyler Wied repeated as the Junior Dragster winner over Rayce Degnitz. Stephan also repeated in the aforementioned Street class.

Beyond the great racing, the Genske/Pichette family spearheaded a 50/50 raffle. Winner Mike Sarauer got half the payout with the other 50 percent going to the racers who qualify for the IHRA Division 5 Summit Team Finals in Muncie, Indiana.

The Outlaw Street program takes place at Great Lakes Dragaway this Saturday before another weekend of IHRA Summit SuperSeries racing on May 17-18. Great Lakes Dragaway is scheduled to host an IHRA Ironman Classic on June 22.
