DREVICKI DRILLS DELAWARE

The skies loomed in many of the hometowns of the Innovative Machine Technology USAC Racers. However south was where the sun was blaring and 85 degree weather was found. Southbound to nearly Maryland is the beautiful half mile of Delaware International.

11 of the best Wingless Talents found their way south.

Drevicki and Bruno were claimed as heat race winners.

The feature for the USAC East Coast Sprints presented by Baer Den Farm was the last race of the evening. That provided the warriors with a wide slick surface which the crews and drivers adjusted to.

Which looked to be a promising evening for Bruno. The 17B suffered a major brake failure causing the Bentley Truck Repair entry to elect to start at the tail.

Off the pole was Reading Pa native and reigning champion Steven Drevicki in the Degree Engineering 19. As the green flew, he was determined to win the race out of turn 2. Ed Aikin had other ideas as he rushed the Delaware Auto Glass 7 to the outside and wheeled side by side into turn 3. Drevicki found the line he was looking for and never looked back.

While the non-stop race roared on, eyes shifted to the Fraker 42, behind the controls was none other than “on the fence” Kyle Spence. The 42 was navigating high and low coming from his 7th starting spot. Kenny Miller also jockeyed his way from 4th to 2nd.

Spence sailed past the Aikin 7 and the 3rd starting Ron Helmick machine and went to work attempting to chase down the lead duo.

The battle for 6th was a thriller featuring Billy Ney, Jason Cherry, JT Ferry and new comer to the series Buddy Schweibenz.

As flagger Nicole Flood showed the 2 to go signal, Drevicki had caught traffic, he had a marginal lead which Miller had started to chew into.

All for nothing on Millers effort, Steven Drevicki crossed the line first followed by Miller, Spence, Aikin and in his first sprint car top 5 Ron Helmick.
