Weber Picks Up Wild Win in Beaver Dam
Beaver Dam, Wisconsin (June 8th, 2025) - Fireworks on track led to celebration out back for Michael Weber as he snuck into victory lane at Beaver Dam Raceway with the Midwest Legends Dirt Series. The first win of the season in the MLDS for Weber was a sweet one on one of the biggest stages of them all.
A series record thirty-nine cars filled the pits at Beaver Dam Raceway for Apache Stainless night. Drivers from multiple states and series all flocked to the track for a big night of racing. It started off with the Fall River Foundry hot lap and qualifying session, which saw Teddy Kottschade absolutely obliterate the track record with his quick time. Championship leader Adam Zellmer was second quickest with Carson Grob third, while Eric Blumer and Weber rounded out the top five.
Four N&S Towing heat races were next with Weber taking the win in the first race. After starting third, Weber made the jump to the lead and didn’t look back. Dallas Ross and T. Kottschade rounded out the top three.
Heat two saw Zellmer win in normal fashion. Payton Jones made Zellmer work for it, staying on his rear bumper throughout the race. Hayden Schmuhl brought home a strong third position in the same heart.
The third head went to Hortonville, Wisconsin’s Cal Swenson. Swenson’s run from third saw him followed by Ryan Sullivan and Alex Haese.
The final heat of the night saw a wild fight between the top four. Blumer, in a rare legend appearance, brought home the win, with Parker Jones going last to second, while Talyn Neuman came home third.
Two Fast Line Designs and Graphics B-mains were next. Four drivers would transfer to the A-main later in the night. The first B-Main saw Faith Zellmer-Schultz cruise to the win with Grob grabbing the other second spot. The second B-main saw a similar sight up front, with Connor Carey rolling to the win in dominant fashion, while behind, a charging Ryan Mech went eighth to second to pick up the final transfer spot.
Twenty-laps remained for one driver to bring home a win. The redraw meant Talyn Neuman and Alex Haese started the race from the front row. Neuman led the field to the green and got the race underway. The #14T was strong upfront for the first few laps, but quickly came under pressure from Schmuhl, who jumped to the lead shortly after. The race was in Schmuhl’s hands from there, while the field behind him battled. Weber, Zellmer, Swenson, Sullivan, and Neuman went all out with each other for the spots behind the leader, before drama struck. Points leader Zellmer and Swenson got tangled and wreaked, resulting in both cars going for a tumble and the red flag coming out. Both drivers would be alright, but their cars wouldn’t be. The field would refire and Schmuhl led the field back to green, with a great restart. Weber was able to close in on the bumper of the #59S and the fight for the lead was on. Sullivan and both Jones brothers, Parker and Payton, right behind them, waiting for a mistake to try and swoop in and take a spot. Drama kicked off right at the end, with a car spinning around coming to the white flag and the caution coming out, setting up a green-white-checkered finish. The fireworks would start before the restart, with eager cars everywhere leading to Schmuhl and Sullivan getting together before the restart. Schmuhl was relegated to the rear and Weber inherited the lead with just two laps to go. Weber took off well and was able to grow the gap behind while the pack behind him charged. Blumer was able to slip by as Parker Jones and Sullivan tangled together leading to Sullivan turned around in turn three on the last lap.
Michael Weber did not care about anything behind though, as he walked away with the win. Eric Blumer brought home second, with Parker Jones fifth. Payton Jones had a fantastic run in fourth in his first outing of the year with Kasey Korsmo bringing home a strong fifth.
Weber walked away with prizes from Rush Race Gear and Aero Race Wheels for the win. Ryan Mech picked up the Professional Plating and Rush Racegear hard charger award, up thirteen spots from his starting spot. Ryan Sullivan won the HMS Motorsports award for his unfortunate twenty-first finish.
