Sonic Boom on HOF night
*Hall of fame night is always one of the best nights for racing. This year with over 7 inches of rain during the week the crew had a tall task ahead of them and had a great support team show up to pack and till to help get the place in shape. Thank you to Rob and Zach Prather, Dave Gaggero, Mike Kirby, Chris Purkey, Kelly Shipman, Skylin Sartain, Tyler and Emily Davis , the Ozbun family, Aric Kick, Russell Logan, Ron Lovell and Gene Hammett!!! Zero chance without you all!!!
*Thank you Hall of Fame committee and chair for all your continued hard work and dedication to the racing community here at 81 Speedway. It was a really good class this year and 81 Speedway again congratulates:

*Well on a night that only a “threatened” pit concession cart was safe from the ruts on the middle of the race surface we started the night in the Allied Battery Stock Cars division. This week brought in a few fresh faces and an old dog too. Tyler Frye, Kaide Gropp, Dylan chambers and the GM himself John Allen all raced with us for the first time this season. The heat races were very intense for the drivers as they all wanted to avoid a B-feature assignment. When the A-feature rolled out it was clear that John Allen may still have a little left on the tank as he bolted to an early lead. The battle for 2-5 was so good with Frye, Jayce Reimer, Scott Miller and Beau Davis all trading places for all 15 laps. On the scales first was SONIC part one driver GM John Allen. Great job “on”and “on”the track!! Frye 2nd, Scott Miller 3rd, Jayce Reimer 4th Beau Davis 5th and a nod to Aaron Esparza for being the Hard Charger and grabbing 7th at the line.
*The Wickham Heating and Air Conditioning Mini Stock/Tuner class bolstered a 30 car field that set them up for a great night of competition! Several new racers showed up and were right in the mix from the jump. The race was good front to back and it was cool to see them on the high side fighting for a spot. At the end of the 10 laps it was a late pass by Justin Esparza on Trenton Wilson for the win. Ken Hapy 3rd, Ryan Ayers 4th, and Drake Jaeger solid in 5th.
*Poorman Auto Supply USRA B-mods took to the track for action with Track Champion Slade Mohr alongside the veteran pro Jon Sheets on the front row. Slade looked to have mechanical issues early and Jon Sheets took no time to find the smoothest way around to dominate the field. KC Mullin, Josh Lanterman and Tyler Kidwell all had a great battle brewing for the runner up spot when Kidwell appeared to park it on the top of turn one against the wall giving no place for the cars behind to clear him, and that sent him to the rear. Then KC Mullin ,Ryan Smith and Chad Reid finished in that order after getting by Lanterman who succumbed to 5th. Jon Sheets was the the winner and had amazing comments to the speedway for the dedication to get the race in with the rainfall that was dealt.
*On the 3/8 mile surface next was the Alternative Pest Management USRA A-mods, The field was ready to pounce knowing that the 65 of Tyler Davis had mechanical issues in the heat that lined him up in the rear. At the green it was Dan Powers off to a great start leading strong until a restart when it appeared his car lost power. Paden Phillips and Wyatt Gaggero then got the crowd fired up as they battled back and forth for the win! Wyatt got around Paden with just a couple to go, but Paden found a way back by to secure his first win at 81 this season completing the SONIC Boom with him and the aforementioned John Allen both winning for SONIC Racing. Wyatt put on a show to take home 2nd, Chevy Coleman Racing at home again takes 3rd, Tyler Davis Hard charged up 10 spots for a 4th place spot and Edward Leecy is on the upswing taking home 5th.
*TM Fencing LLC Super Stocks was finishing the night off, There were some really good battles throughout the field but late in the race several cautions slowed up the progress and claimed a few cars. Jerrod Reimer continued his dominance and parked the 75 back in victory lane for the 4th straight time this season. Will anyone step up and prevent him from taking them all….? JD Eveland does continue to be right there and nabbed 2nd , Alan Blevins 3rd, Jerry Eveland sr. 4th, and Les Mertens for 5th!!
Next week we re-stack them and run the same divisions out at 81 Speedway. Please come out and join us for an exciting night of racing.
