Sarale, Wise, Denman, Brown Victorious in Round Five
Santa Maria Speedway opened the gates for the fifth round of action in the 2025 season on Saturday night. The night consisted of WMR/BCRA Super Series Midgets, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods and Hobby Stocks. Santa Maria Police were on hand to turn on their lights and sirens and pace the field to green.
WMR/BCRA Super Series Midgets made their series inaugural visit to the third-mile clay oval. Visiting from Queensland, Australia, Mathew Radisich clocked in with quick time with a time of 16.483. Logan Mitchel and series' points leader Caden Sarale picked up heat race wins. Hailey Lambert and Dane Culver led the field to the green flag for thirty laps. Culver, Radisich and Sarale all battled for the top spot. When the checkered flag flew, Sarale extended his points lead and is a perfect 2-for-2 in Midget action at Santa Maria Speedway in 2025. Culver, Radisich, Mitchell and Todd Hawse rounded out the top five.
IMCA Modified heat race winner was Prunedale's Doug Hagio. He was alongside Paul Miller who paced the field to the green flag. It was not long before Larry Wise found the high side and made the move for the lead securing his first win of the season at Santa Maria Speedway. The points' battle tightened with Robert Marsh taking third place, trailing Paul Miller. Marsh is now on the top of the points' board, with a one point advantage over Miller.
IMCA SportMods saw Landon King and Chad Weber securing heat race victories. Rich Denman and Weber sat on the front row for the twenty lap feature event. Denman jumped to the lead and crossed the checkered flags ahead of Weber and track points' leaders as well as National Points' Leader Danny Wagner.
Hobby Stocks featured Dakota Brown extending his points' lead after a clean sweep of the night. The Bakersfield driver took home the heat race and twenty lap feature event. Aaron Bruce led early on and closed in on Brown again in the final laps, however was unable to make the move. Bruce currently sits third in points, trailing Brown by twenty.
