Sullivan Snatches First Weekday Warrior Win

Luxemburg, WI (July 4th, 2025) - Ryan Sullivan came into the night in a good place. Ahead in the championship and ready to go to work. And that he did, picking up his second Midwest Legends Dirt Series feature win of the season and the inaugural Weekday Warrior Series Presented by Spankins Motorsports win at Luxy Raceway.

Twenty-five cars were on hand for the second trip to the northern track. The drivers in the pits were excitedly ready to get the Weekday Warrior Series Presented by Spankins Motorsports championship underway. A mini-championship inside the regular season will see drivers pitted against each other in a four race, winner takes all championship.

Four N&S Towing Heat Races were up first. Eric Blumer came home with the win while Ryan Sullivan and Dan Mech fought for the second and third spot, finishing in that order.

Heat two was a memorable one for Lilly Fassbender, who picked up the win in front of most recent feature winner Dallas Ross and Art Hahn.

Heat three was a war between winner Adam Zellmer and second-placed Glenn Mitchell. The duo went at it while Keith Moline watched on and finished third.

The final heat saw Ryan Mech out duel Carson Grob for the win after a chaotic race. Nate Wener, who was involved in an earlier race incident, came back to finish third.

The twenty-lap A-Main was next up, and after a twelve car redraw, Mech and Sullivan were drawn to the front row. The green dropped and the pair of Ryans raced through the first lap, with Sullivan the leader. The championship leader Sullivan began to drive off into the night while Blumer went to work on Mech for second, working his way past on lap four. Blumer set his sights on the leader while a boogieing Schmuhl began to go to work on the field. The #59S was on rails and was up to fourth by lap five. He began to fight with Mech for the third position immediately. Blumer caught the leader and went for the lead on lap eleven, looking to the high line but ultimately finding himself spun around due to a tricky topside of the track, bringing out the sole caution of the feature. The driver who benefited the most from the caution was Schmuhl, who was able to sneak by Mech for the second spot and go to work on Sullivan. Schmuhl would stalk the rear bumper of Sullivan and make attempts at the race leader, but Sullivan was a strong catfish, staying glued to that bottom line and not moving up. Schmuhl was able to muster up one final charge on the final lap but it was not enough.

Ryan Sullivan rolled to victory lane for his second win of the season with the MLDS and his first Weekday Warrior win. Schmuhl brought home a strong second with Mech rounding out the top three. Mitchell finished a respectable fourth with Zellmer finishing the top five.

With the win, Sullivan picked up prizes from Rush Race Gear and Aero Race Wheels, as well as an increased purse thanks to Spankins Motorsports. Talyn Neuman was the hard charger, up twelve spots, and was given prizes from Rush Race Gear and Professional Plating.

It’s a break for the Midwest Legends Dirt Series before a return to Angell Park Speedway on July 13th for the final visit to the track in 2025. The Weekday Warrior Series returns on July 15th at 141 Speedway for the King of the Creek event.
