Maquoketa, Dubuque speedways canceled due to colder than expected weather

DUBUQUE, IA (April 13) – Trackside Promotions owners Nick and Amanda McCrady waited as long as possible to delay the obvious.

Colder than expected temperatures forced the decision Saturday morning to cancel the weekend events at Maquoketa and Dubuque Speedways.

“We watched radar and forecasts all week and thought at least Maquoketa was a go for Saturday,” Nick McCrady said. “We even moved the start time up so the fans could enjoy racing and temps in the 50s. But, this morning, the updated forecast showed not even getting out of the 40s. That’s not a comfortable environment for the fans or racers, we feel, even with sunny skies.”

Both tracks were to play host to the Deery Brothers Summer Series IMCA Late Models, including the Herschel Roberts/Ray Guss, Sr. Memorial at Maquoketa. McCrady is working with IMCA to reschedule both shows.

Everyone involved hopes Mother Nature cooperates next Saturday.
Maquoketa Speedway will throw the green flag on QCJeeps.com IMCA Modifieds, B&D Pit Stop SportMods, GRE/REV Chassis IMCA Stock Cars, Shawn’s Auto Service IMCA Hobby Stocks and Obie’s Bar & Restaurant / B&C Liquors 4 Cylinders.
Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Hot laps are set for 6:15 with racing to follow.

No action is scheduled on the Dubuque 3/8-mile, dirt oval this Sunday April 21 so families can celebrate Easter.

Sunday evening April 28 will be highlighted by Merfeld Brothers Automotive IMCA Modifieds, Peosta Warehousing Logistics IMCA SportMods, IMCA Stock Cars, Kinsella Concrete IMCA Hobby Stocks and 4 Cylinders.
Gates open at 3:30 p.m. Hot laps are 5:30 with racing at 6 p.m.

Advance tickets are now available.
